How to determine whether you need pigeon removal, pigeon control or both.

Jun 22, 2017

Our previous post explained the difference between pigeon removal and pigeon control which can be read here . With that understanding, we can move on to determining which of these bird solutions, or combination of solutions you need. We always start by asking a potential customer two questions:

  1. How long have the pigeons been nesting or roosting on your property?
  2. How many pigeons do you typically see?

If they’ve lived there for six months or more and you see 6-8 pigeons or more, we know you will need pigeon removal. Two pigeons can multiply to 16 in a year’s time. If a property is left untreated, pigeons can reproduce to a very large number in a short period of time. What makes removing pigeons so difficult is that they have a homing instinct. Meaning, wherever they were born they will continue to flock and live until they are permanently removed with a pigeon trapping program which is explained here.

If a potential customer states that the pigeon problem began within the last 3 months and is only seeing 2-3 pigeons, we suggest pigeon control methods such as bird netting, bird spikes, pigeon mesh or pigeon screening explained here . These methods are highly effective when the pigeon problem is addressed in a timely manner. If the issue has not been caught early, we would likely suggest pigeon removal to eliminate the nesting flock, followed by pigeon control to prevent future pigeon problems.

We provide customized solutions based on these issues. Contact us to find out what the best solution for your pigeon problem is.
