What is the difference between pigeon control and pigeon removal?

Jun 02, 2017

Pigeon control is pest control for pigeons by modifying your property to deny pigeons the ability to nest or roost. This is most effectively done with the use of pigeon deterrents or bird control products such as bird netting, bird spikes, pigeon mesh or screening. Denying access can change a pigeons behavior and if the problem is caught early enough, the birds will look for a new home. Bird netting, bird spikes, and pigeon mesh or screening are also guaranteed to work if installed properly and in a timely manner in conjunction with pigeon nest removal, cleaning and a disinfecting process. There are also many bird control products like bird repellent, fake owls and snakes, bird deterrent tape, scary eyes, ultra sonic pigeon repellents and many more that are highly ineffective. These products are not guaranteed by the manufacturer or an option Pigeons Be Gone would suggest to rid a property of pigeons. In the case of bird gel it can do more harm than good by staining your roof. When winds pick up, debris carried through the air gets stuck permanently in the bird gel. At that point, the only way to remove the gel is by replacing stained tiles on the roof. See example here.

Pigeon removal is the use of humane pigeon traps to remove a pigeon infestation. Pigeon trapping is used when pigeons have been left to reproduce on a property and have exceeded a small flock or 6-8 birds. Pigeons have a homing instinct and will continue to reproduce on the property that they were born on until removed. When addressing a medium to large flock, pigeon trapping is the first step in effectively ridding a property of pigeons. After the birds are removed, pigeon control methods should be implemented to prevent future pigeon infestations.
